Dentistry Event Update
From Drop In Center Executive Director Arlene Mercer
A very successful Free Dental Fair was held on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the First Congregational Church. A positive, energy filled the room all day and one hundred and six grateful patients were served. Patients were treated from 9am to 3pm.
The Free Dental Fair was sponsored through a partnership between Urban Community Outreach and Lestonnac Free Clinic.
Thirteen local dentists participated and gave of their time in this effort to provide free dental fillings and extractions for people without dental insurance or a means to pay for dental care.

The volunteer dentists, assistants, nurses, and administrative volunteers were all very positive and enjoyed their day of dentistry, camaraderie, good food and good feelings for being able to help others. The patients seen were very thankful and said the dentists were “patient and treated them gently and efficiently.”
Urban Community Outreach is proud to introduce its new Executive Director Arlene Mercer. Arlene has an accomplished history in community activism around homeless issues and with her direction and YOUR SUPPORT, UCO will be bringing a new health alternative to homeless residents of Long Beach.

The Drop-In-Center is a community center for homeless people and those in need in downtown Long Beach. Providing a nutritious meal, a 16 station computer lab and a haven from the streets on Sunday afternoons.
